Resilient infrastructure starts with the right team.
Infrastructure, security and service management professionals keep a financial institution open for business, behind every trade, payment and client login. With the right people in place, systems stay available through market hours, audits run smoothly and change lands without disruption, so your technology can carry your growth plans in Hong Kong and Mainland China.
We specialise in IT infrastructure recruitment for global banks, hedge funds and multinational corporations across Hong Kong and Mainland China.
Fintech Infrastructure recruitment
Our consultants each specialise in one area of the market rather than working as generalists. In IT infrastructure, that means keeping our market knowledge current every day, tracking how AWS, Azure, Alibaba Cloud and Huawei Cloud are reshaping teams, how new roles like cloud security architect and site reliability engineer are defined, and how pay is moving. So your brief starts from shared understanding and up-to-date market intelligence. For senior hires such as Head of Infrastructure or Chief Information Security Officer, that expertise extends into executive search, where leadership and influence across the business count as much as technical background.
The strongest hires add value beyond their job description, so we look at the whole picture. Technical capability comes first, from network design and database administration to cloud platforms, identity and access management and ITIL-aligned service management. Alongside it, we look for three qualities that build trust:
- Discretion: handling privileged access and sensitive systems with care
- Steady judgement: staying calm when an incident hits during trading
- Clear communication: explaining risk and trade-offs to business, audit and compliance colleagues
Every candidate is screened by a consultant who knows this market, looking past titles and certifications to what they have built, secured and kept running.
We recruit across the infrastructure, security and service functions that financial services and multinational corporations rely on:
- Architecture & Strategy: enterprise and solutions architects who shape infrastructure roadmaps and align them with business and regulatory priorities.
- Cloud, Infrastructure & IT: cloud engineers, DevOps and systems engineers who build and run hybrid estates across data centres and public cloud.
- Cyber & Information Security: security operations, governance, risk and compliance specialists and penetration testers who protect systems and data.
- Database: database administrators and engineers who keep critical data platforms performant, recoverable and secure.
- Desktop / Helpdesk: end user computing and workplace support specialists, including support for trading floor environments.
- IT Audit: technology auditors and IT risk specialists who give leadership independent assurance over infrastructure and controls.
- IT Service Management: incident, problem and change managers and service owners working within ITIL-aligned processes.
- Networking: network engineers and architects designing and supporting connectivity across offices, data centres and cloud.
When your Hong Kong office is a regional hub, the role reaches across your Asia Pacific footprint. So we talk through reporting lines to global teams, coverage across time zones and the balance between hands-on engineering and regional oversight. We’ll also help you decide which roles to make permanent, where contract support adds value during a migration or audit cycle, and how to phase hires around your programme timeline.
Onshore teams in Mainland China bring a different set of priorities. Here, we focus on platform experience, local stakeholder management and the bilingual communication that keeps onshore and offshore teams aligned. On the contract side, we set up Hong Kong engagements with employment obligations such as MPF in mind, and structure Mainland China engagements around local labour dispatch rules.
Hiring models cover permanent, contract and executive search, with more detail on our permanent recruitment and contract hiring pages.
We support organisations where infrastructure carries real commercial and regulatory weight:
- Global banks: large, regulated estates where resilience, change control and audit readiness shape every hire.
- Hedge funds: lean technology teams where infrastructure, network and desktop support sit close to the trading desk.
- Global insurers: modernising core infrastructure while protecting policyholder data.
- Fintech teams within financial institutions: digital platforms built on cloud-first infrastructure with strong security expectations.
- Multinational corporations: FMCG and consumer goods firms and professional services firms running regional infrastructure and security from Hong Kong.
A specialist recruiter brings an understanding of how infrastructure is run, secured and governed to every stage of hiring. In financial services, an infrastructure hire affects availability, security and audit outcomes, so a well-matched appointment has a lasting effect on the business.
Our consultants explore what candidates have designed, secured and supported, from migrations and data centre exits to incident response and control remediation, before they reach your interview stage. We share up-to-date salary insight, realistic availability and a view of how similar profiles are moving across Hong Kong and Mainland China, so you can plan with confidence. Our network of 900,000+ candidates includes infrastructure and security professionals who aren’t visible on job boards, and our work has been recognised with 50+ awards.
Fintech infrastructure market intelligence
Data and AI tooling moves quickly, so we assess how candidates have applied a technology, not only which ones they know, and share how demand for those skills is moving as you shape the brief.
Python and SQL are the common ground. Beyond that, we tailor the conversation to the hire you’re making: Spark, Databricks and Snowflake for data engineering, and Tableau and Power BI for analytics, along with how candidates have used them to answer business questions. For data science and AI, we cover machine learning frameworks, natural language processing and large language models, and for MLOps, production deployment, monitoring and versioning. For hedge funds, we screen early for time-series and market data experience, including KDB.
For onshore Mainland China hires, we check experience of domestic cloud and AI platforms. Certifications can support a profile, but your shortlist is built on production experience, model governance and financial data control.
Specialism, location and the regulatory weight of a role all shape what infrastructure professionals earn. At four to eight years’ experience, architecture and security roles command the upper end, while database, networking, audit and service management roles sit around the middle. Mainland China ranges run below Hong Kong’s for every specialism, but the gap narrows as you move towards the top of each range
As a guide, annual salaries for professionals with four to eight years’ experience are:
- Architecture & Strategy: HKD 900,000 - 1,350,000 in Hong Kong; RMB 480,000 - 800,000 in Mainland China
- Cyber & Information Security: HKD 800,000 - 1,200,000; RMB 400,000 - 720,000
- Cloud, Infrastructure & IT: HKD 720,000 - 1,050,000; RMB 360,000 - 620,000
- Database & Networking: HKD 600,000 - 900,000; RMB 280,000 - 480,000
- IT Audit & IT Service Management: HKD 580,000 - 880,000; RMB 260,000 - 450,000
Contract engagements are priced on a rate rather than an annual package, so they don’t compare directly with a salary. For tailored benchmarking by role, seniority and institution type, visit our benchmarking page.
AI puts infrastructure teams on the critical path. Every model a business runs needs compute capacity, secure data pipelines, access controls and monitoring, and those responsibilities land with infrastructure, security and service management teams. Firms adopting AI are starting to ask for people who understand GPU capacity planning, AI workload security and how to monitor systems that behave less predictably than traditional applications.
Governance shapes those hires too. In Hong Kong, the privacy regulator’s AI model personal data protection framework sets out expectations for organisations using AI with personal data. In Mainland China, labelling rules for AI-generated content have applied since September 2025, alongside existing data and cybersecurity law. Infrastructure and security leaders who have built controls around these expectations can help an AI programme move through approval rather than stall at it.
When you’re interviewing, asking how a candidate has secured or supported an AI workload, or how they’d approach access control for a model with sensitive data, can tell you a lot about their readiness.
Hong Kong’s first dedicated cybersecurity law for critical infrastructure came into effect in January 2026, with banking and financial services among the sectors it covers. For designated operators, that brings formal expectations around security management, incident reporting and regular assessment of critical computer systems, with sector codes of practice following during 2026.
For hiring managers, the effect reaches beyond the security team. Architects are designing with designation in mind, service management teams are aligning incident processes to reporting timelines, and IT audit and GRC specialists are helping leadership evidence compliance. Candidates who have prepared for supervisory assessments, run incident drills or built control frameworks are well placed to support this work, and our consultants explore that experience early in the process.
